Egyptian thoughts

Today I met the FABULOUS Umm Traviss right here in Cairo! Subhana'Allah its amazing how life works out...a month ago I was back in Canada reading her blog and exchanging occasional greetings and advice and here I am today serving her somali tea in Egypt lol.

She is an AMAZING sister masha'Allah I cant wait till she moves down to al rehab!! So today is a very hot day WOW! But i've been told this isnt even the half of it...Ya Allah give me strength in this heat especially since i'll be commuting to school which is like an hour away and at a horrible time tooo! aaahhh but i guess struggle is necessary for progress right?

I started my Arabic lessons this Sunday and I absolutely adore my teacher masha'Allah she's very nice and although she does not speak that much English we find a way to communicate lol it works out alhamdulillah.

So far alhamdulillah I have no dislikes about Egypt even with all the craziness but everyone keeps telling me to give it some time and i'll grow to hate it lol. Well maybe not hate it but get a bit annoyed with certain things. However I love the fact that niqabis are everywhere, i hear the athaan 5 times a day, i've met so many diverse individuals. New Muslims and born Muslims from Canada, United States, Czech Republic, Britain, Russia, China, and many other countries masha'Allah. I love to see others striving for Allah's deen it makes me work hard as well.

Did i mention the driving here is INSANE?? My cousins tell me to take the shahadah before crossing the street lol! But seriously I probably should ESPECIALLY when I go to school down at Nasr City! I love the food so far alhamdulillah no complaints! Took lots of pics too bad I can only upload em' when i get back to canada insha'Allah.

Well thats it for now...did i mention that i LOVE it here? lol

Hey welcome to Cairo :) There are good things about living here than we tend to forget cause of the stress, and hearing the adaan 5 times a day is definitely one of them!

Had a few chuckles from reading, mashaAllah. The last time I went to Egypt was when I was 5 years old and only visited for a few weeks.

It's so interesting to hear that you met up with Umm Traviss.

Wassalaam.
